Description: This class will build a new 3-5 minutes of stand-up comedy from scratch. Whether you’re new to performing or a veteran stand-up, all are welcome to come work in a collaborative writers room. This supportive environment will foster creativity and focus on decreasing stress with fun writing techniques.

This hands-on class uses a live writing, group feedback, writing exercises, on-stage practice and guided micro-drafting to leave the student with original material, and a digital recording of their live showcase from the historic Rockwell Theater in Davis Sq.

About the teacher: Angela Sawyer has been doing stand-up around New England for over ten years. She’s performed in nationally recognized festivals around the country, released digital and physical albums, and has also toured the US and Europe as a musician. She is a phenomenally supportive and veteran comedy teacher. Her classes focus on joke structure and committed writing practices, and can get you from where you are to the place you’d like to be next.
